Custom, hobby, or, for many, a work of art (I am not exaggerating). We are going to tell you everything about this mythical drink of origin... we better leave this debate for later!
What do we drink when mateamos?
Mate is an infusion that is drunk hot (its cold variant is called tereré) and is prepared with yerba mate, a tree plant native to South America. This plant is dried, cut, and ground; don't worry, this process is done by companies dedicated to it and we can get it in supermarkets and local businesses (in Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, and Chile it is more easily found than in other countries in the area).
What is mate?
Matear [v.] action of drinking mate, either alone or accompanied.
Matear is the word designated to the action of drinking mate. It can be mate alone, to accompany some activity, usually study, work, or simply to kill time; or you can have a dunk casually accompanied, making the talk more enjoyable and thus also people get together, specifically, to dunk.
Do you eat something or is it just mate?
There is no correct answer, since, although there are people who only drink mate, there are also those who drink mate accompanied by cookies, biscuits, invoices, pizza, little sandwiches...
That's right, there are thousands of combinations and everyone prefers it with something different, what do you accompany it with? Comment us below!
Now yes... THE GREAT DEBATE
The mate is... Argentine, Uruguayan or Paraguayan?? LEAVE YOUR ANSWER IN THE COMMENTS
